Parent Involvement

5.7

The Parent Committee:
The Childcare Director bears overall administrative responsibility for the program’s day-to-day operations.  The Parent Committee provides important and valuable support to the program.  In order to receive in-parish tuition, families must be active participants in the school and parish.  Parents can fulfill the requirement for service by sitting on this committee.  The committee meets every other month (September, November, January, March and May).  The Parent Committee:

  • Supports and advises the director
  • Reviews and assists in policy development
  • Recognizes the center staff at various points throughout the year
  • Recognizes staff for years-of-service
  • Assists in the planning and carrying out family and training events
  • Assists in evaluation of the program

Classroom Activities:
Parents sometimes help out in the Preschool and Enrichment Kindergarten classrooms.  Parents can:

  • Provide snack or food for special activities
  • Share a skill with the class
  • Be a guest reader
  • Be a guest speaker
  • Chaparone on a field trip
