together for the teaching of the faith. Children aged PreK to 5th
grade, with the presence of at least one parent (or guardian), and youth
in 6th, 7th and 8th grades meet following the 8:45 a.m. Mass (10:20 a.m.-12:10
p.m.) for formation. Families and children in grades PreK-5 meet
in the PAC for educational activities (about 1 hour). Age appropriate
instruction is then given in the classroom (about 50 minutes). Youth
in grades 6-8 meet in a youth group setting for the family session and
then proceed to the classrooms for instruction. Parents are invited to
join the adult theology sessions during the time the children are in the
classroom. Family Religious Education meets on the Sunday dates given
above, and takes the place of traditional religious education classes.
First Reconciliation/Communion preparation and Confirmation preparation
is included during the classroom sessions.

SACRAMENTAL PREPARATION
Formal preparation for First Reconciliation and
First Communion begins in second grade. A first grade religious
education is normally required in order to begin second grade preparation
of these sacraments.
Preparation for Confirmation begins
in the 7th grade with celebration of the Sacrament in the 8th grade.
Normally regular attendance in grades 3—8 religious education is required
for reception of the Sacrament of Confirmation.
If your child is older and in need of the sacraments, please call the
Office at 821-2130 for information on preparation.
SPECIAL NEEDS CHILDREN
Special Friends is a program designed to support children with special
learning, social, or physical disabilities and for those children who are
mentally impaired. Volunteers offer aid, encourage peer support,
and provide individualized instruction when needed, helping to create an
atmosphere of acceptance and friendship where the disabled child can feel
welcome within the regular classroom by their classmates. Please
indicate any special needs your child may have under “Additional Information”
on the registration form.
INTERESTED IN VOLUNTEERING?
Parent involvement and volunteer help are the backbone of the religious
education program. Please consider volunteering to teach, aid, offer
child care on site for our teachers, or help out during special events.
Parents who teach for the year receive free tuition. Parents
who aid for the year receive a 50 percent tuition reduction.
