Would You Like to Receive the Sacrament of Confirmation? .

The preparation process to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation in the 8th grade now begins in January of the 7th grade at St. Francis parish.

Students preparing for Confirmation attend classes either in the Religious Education Program which meets on Wednesday evenings from 6:30 to 7:45 p.m. or the Family Religious Ed Program which meets on Sunday morning from 10:20am-12:10am or in St. Francis School as part of the religion curriculum. To learn more about the Religious Education Program or how to register, please click here.

As you are aware the Sacrament of Confirmation is normally celebrated in the eighth grade at St. Francis with preparation having begun in the 7th grade.   My hopes are that the summer has been happy and filled with activities of helping others in service to God and one another. Please remember that forms documenting at least 20 hours of service were due to the Religious Education Office by Sept. 20. If you are just now joining us in the preparation for Confirmation, please contact Ellen Ward. See below.

The next preparation meeting for sponsor, parent, and candidate is scheduled for (please choose one of these meetings to attend with your child):

Tuesday, February 6, 2007 at 7 p.m.
or Wednesday, February 7, 2007 at 7 p.m.
in the Parish Activities Center (PAC)

Retreat Nov. 10-12, 2006
The retreat experience is a key part of the preparation for Confirmation.  We were fortunate to be able to schedule overnight weekend retreats at the popular Bethany House in DeWitt.  Modeled after a well-rounded youth ministry program, the remaining retreat is scheduled for the weekend of Nov. 10-12 and will allow for a fuller experience of faith and relationships of trust with God and with one another.  The focus of the retreats is the Sacrament of Confirmation.
Youth and parent should view and sign both the Registration Form (both pages) and also the Youth Code of Conduct. Registration Form for the weekend of November 10-12, please click here. For the Bethany House Youth Code of Conduct Form, click here.

During this exciting time, young people often find they have many questions about their faith and life’s choices.  The preparation process for Confirmation provides a time to explore one’s Catholic identity and what it means to be a follower of Jesus Christ.  We look forward to working with you and your student.  May God bless you and your family.  Please contact me with any questions or concerns at  or 821-2132.
