SERVING at the MASS at the JAIL

SERVING at the MASS at the JAIL

RELAX.  SMILE.  Normally the priest helpful at the MASS.
You will be fine.  If you forget something the priest will gently remind you.
Most of the work is SETTING-UP properly.
Below are some directions for serving, please look them over and let me know if you have other questions or concerns.
-----------------
Here are some notes to help you serve Mass at the jail:

SETTING-UP properly.
- 1 - uncover & move the altar table to the center of the wall.
- 2 - From the cabinet get the two largest white cloths and place them on the altar (We use two cloths only because we do not have a big one).
you may want to ask an inmate to help you put them on the altar, or do it yourself.
- 3 -  The Corporal is another white cloth.  Place, on top of the other two white cloths,  the Corporal right where the priest stands at the altar.  It is like a table "place mat" to catch any crumbs under the Eucharist.  Also, place two battery opperated candles on each front corner of the altar.
- 4 - Place the SACRAMENTARY on the ALTAR!  (Father will mark the correct pages.)
- 5 - Now on a table off to the side of the altar near the wall near the cabinet place all of the items from the cabinet that you will need for the Mass:
-              - hand towel,
-              - clear plastic (square) bowl for washing hands,
-              - small cloth purificator for wiping off the cup,
-              - two glass cruits,
-              - gold ciborium with the lid &
-              - glass chalis.
- 6 - Bob Roleke, or the person doing TASK # 1 will have wine.  Put the wine into the glass cruit.  Take the other glass cruit out to the drinking fountain and fill it less than half with water.
- 7 - Place enough small hosts (about 15-20) in the ciborium & one of the larger hosts on top.
- 8 -       After you are all SET-UP then the MASS may begin.

-              - small cloth purificator for wiping off the cup,
- 11 - Next, immediatly go back to get the -

When you stand facing the priest the handles should be for him to take & then he will give them back to you.  And, then take and put the wine cruit back on the side table.
