Fall 2013 Small Faithsharing Groups
will meet for six weeks starting in early to mid-October. Our main focus for discussion this fall will be based on the book Crossroads by William Paul Young, author of The Shack.
Another masterpiece of fiction, Crossroads tells the story of Anthony Spencer, an egotistical, self-made business success at the peak of his game, even though the cost of winning was painfully high. A cerebral hemorrhage leaves Tony comatose in a hospital ICU. He 'awakens' to find himself in a surreal world, a 'living' landscape that mirrors dimensions of his earthly life, from the beautiful to the corrupt. He comes to see the consequences of the many choices he made over his life and has the opportunity to make amends. With the same beautiful imagery of the Shack, it is a joy to encounter theTrinity in a new way and reflect on the consequences of our actions small and large.I laughed out loud, and cried real tears as I turned the pages of this fast-paced, yet thought provoking book.
Small Groups can make the difference!
St. Francis Parish is a large and vibrant parish so getting connected can be challenging. Those involved in small groups consistently cite a greater feeling of community as well as better clarity in what it means to live out their faith on a daily basis.
There is a perfect group waiting for you
New groups typically form in the fall and during Lent. We have small groups for everyone - some in the evening, some during the day; some are open to all, others specifically targeted for young adults, men, or women and one where moms can bring their small children and meet while they play in the nursery. To be connected to a Small Group or for more information, contact Janene Ternes at jlternes [at] stfrancisa2 [dot] org or 734-821-2122.
Small Group Facilitators Needed
A facilitator is . . .
not the one with all the answers,
not the one who has to host the meeting,
not the one who provides the snacks for the group and
not the one who does all the work.
Rather, a facilitator is someone that gently guides a group by helping people to feel comfortable, asking questions and encouraging those who haven’t spoken much to share. If this sounds like one of your strengths, sign up to volunteer at http://www.stfrancisa2.com/tt/ (Select Item #108)
