Sunday, November 2 (All Soul’s Day) & Pan de los Muertos

If your plans include attending the 8:30 a.m. or 10:30 a.m. Masses on Sunday, November 2, then stop by the Parish Activities Center for coffee & donuts and a taste of the homemade traditional pan de los muertos.

Pan de los Muertos is Spanish for Bread of the Dead and is a type of sweet bread traditionally baked in Mexico for the feast days of All Saint’s Day and All Soul’s Day.  All Saint’s Day (November 1) remembers all those who have faithfully followed Christ and now share the reward of everlasting life with God in heaven.  All Soul’s Day (November 2) remembers all those who have died, especially our loved ones, who we keep in our prayers as we trust them to our merciful Lord who came to save all people.

The 5 p.m. Sunday, November 2  Mass includes the traditional LIghting of Candles & Prayers for our Deceased Loved Ones.  All are welcome to remember their loved ones.

We are looking for new altar servers for all our weekend Masses. All students from 5th grade upwards are invited to serve. Our final training session will be Friday, November 7 at 1:30 p.m. in the Church.

All young adults are invited to join the young adult retreat November 14-16. Details and the registration form is online.

Join us next Sunday at Coffee & Donuts for a special treat: pan de los muertos, or bread of the dead. This bread is made for the November 2nd celebration known as the Dia de los Muertos in Mexico.

Each year, the men, women and children in the RCIA receive a Catholic Bible following the Rite of Acceptance in November. Will you donate the cost of a Bible? Details in the bulletin.

Our parish children’s choir are singing for us at the 12:30 p.m. Mass October 26!  If you have a child interested in singing, please come to rehearsal on Thursday, October 30 at 6:15 p.m. in the choir room (basement of church). All children in grades preK-8 are welcome!
