With a parish the size of St. Francis it is easy to get lost, feel
like you don’t know anyone and are disconnected. Small Groups can
make the difference! Those involved in small groups consistently
site a greater feeling of community as well as better clarity in what it
means to live out their faith on a daily basis.
Small groups are a great opportunity to make new friends and explore
your faith in a few short weeks! Groups begin on various dates at
the end of October or early November and meet for just 1 ½ hours
a week for 5 weeks. Facilitators have been trained to lead each group.
We have two Small Group choices for this Fall - discussion of
the book, “The Shack,” by William Paul Young or the weekly Sunday
readings. See below for information about each format choice.
Select from the options below that best meet your schedule and interest.
There are several different small groups open to anyone. Choose by
meeting time as well as the format you’d like to use – either "The Shack"
or the Sunday readings. We also have small groups especially for
couples, men and parents of young children. See below for information
on each group option. Books are available in the Parish Office now
and will be available in the Church book rack beginning Oct 17 for a suggested
donation of $10. Check this notice for updates on possible additions
to small groups.
Register by Sunday, October 25. For more information call Janene
Ternes at 821-2122 or email
.
Format Choices:
1. The Shack - William Paul Young
As some reviews for “The Shack” have said, it “is a one of a kind invitation
to journey to the very heart of God. Through my tears and cheers, I have
been indeed transformed by the tender mercy with which William Paul Young
opened the veil that too often separated me from God and from myself. With
every page, the complicated do's and don'ts that distort a relationship
into a religion were washed away as I understood Father, Son and Holy Spirit
for the first time in my life. If you read one work of fiction this year,
let this be it.”
2. Sunday mass readings.
Using the Sunday mass readings, participants will share how they apply
in their everyday life.
